The six States sharing the cross-border basin of the Volta, which are the Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, the Republic of Ghana, the Republic of Mali, and the Togolese Republic, undertake to strengthen regional cooperation for harmonious development and poverty reduction in the basin. They have adopted a Water Charter adapted to the issues and challenges of the sustainable management of water resources specific to this basin.
