Ordinary Council of Ministers of the Mono Basin Authority (ABM)

The 6th Ordinary Council of Ministers of the Mono Basin Authority (ABM) will be held in Lomé from 22 to 26 January 2024. The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) is taking part in this important event of the sister institution of the West African sub-region.

The VBA is represented by its Executive Director, Mr Robert DESSOUASSI, who has been a leading expert in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for many years. The sharing of experience between the VBA and the ABM is the sign of a partnership to find solutions to the mobilisation of water resources and the effects of climate change for the well-being of the populations of these two basins.

As a reminder, the Mono Basin, with a surface area of 24,300 km, is shared by Togo and Benin. Aware that this area could be the object of enormous economic stakes linked to the many natural resources on which the riparian populations depend, the two countries signed the creation of the Mono Basin Authority on 30 November 2014.
