On Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 11 a.m., His Excellency the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mali to Burkina Faso, accompanied by his second Technical Advisor, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Basin Authority of the Volta (VBA).
This was an opportunity for His Excellency Mr. Issouf Oumar MAÏGA, new Ambassador of the Republic of Mali to Burkina Faso, to present his letter of accreditation and that of recall of his predecessor to the Executive Director of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) in the presence of the personnel invited to the ceremony.
Following the receipt of these letters, the Executive Director in a brief speech, expressed to the High Malian Authorities, his deferential gratitude and recognition for this mark of consideration to the Volta Basin Authority.
He also congratulated His Excellency Mr. Issouf Oumar MAÏGA for his recent assumption of duty at the head of the Diplomatic Representation of the Republic of Mali in Burkina Faso and reassured him of the full availability of the VBA to closely collaborate with his institution.
After requesting the support-accompaniment of his Excellency to the Executive Direction of the VBA in the implementation of its basin development activities, the Executive Director ended his speech by observing a minute of silence in memory of the the late Captain Bakary GOÏTA, Father of His Excellency President Assimi GOÏTA.
The floor was then given to His Excellency who appreciated the warm welcome reserved for him and also provided wise and galvanizing advice to all the staff for the execution of their various tasks which must contribute to the success of the management activities. concerted and sustainable approach to the shared natural resources of the basin.
After a tour de table of presentation of the participants which allowed his Excellency Ambassador MAÏGA to inquire about the different nationalities within the Executive Management, a family photo closed this first part of his visit to the VBA.
His Excellency’s visit ended with a one-on-one meeting with the Executive Director, who had his Deputy and the Director of Administration and Finance at his side. Among other things, they discussed:
► the major achievements of the VBA since its creation to date;
► the current operating situation of the Executive Directorate/ABV and its expectations vis-à-vis the Republic of Mali.
► the issue of implementing sustainable financing mechanisms for development activities in the Volta Basin.
It was around 1 p.m. that his Excellent left the Headquarters of the Executive Direction of the Volta Basin Authority.
