From 17 to 21 November 2025, the final workshops for the presentation of the three studies within the framework of the Dynoba project are being held at the Bénin Royal Hotel in Cotonou. This workshop is organised by the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and aims primarily to validate the three strategic documents.
Development of the investment programme for strengthening climate resilience in the Volta Basin (PIC-Volta), consolidation of the VBA’s autonomous and sustainable financing mechanisms, and finally the coordinated infrastructure management tool in the Volta Basin, summarising the final results of the three (03) studies validated during this series of workshops.
For Director General of Water Saïd Hounkponou, a workshop organised by VBA aims primarily to validate strategic documents whose implementation will improve water governance. Indeed, the results of the three (03) studies are not mere formalities.
According to the Director General of VBA, they constitute and will remain the most technical and institutional aspects of a profound transformation of governance in the Volta Basin.
According to him, this involves the investment programme and the strengthening of climate resilience. One of the major achievements of the programme, he says, is the ongoing dialogue between science and political decision-making.
‘We are gathered here to validate the final results of the project entitled “Boosting support for African transboundary basin organisations for improved water resource management in a context of climate change”, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and led by the International Office for Water,’ said MEEM Secretary General Kanon Basile Adjoint.
According to him, this series of workshops represents a crucial step in strengthening the technical capacities of the ABV for concerted and resilient governance of water issues in the Volta Basin. He says it marks the culmination of a long process of consultation and analysis based on three strategic studies.
